As familiar as it is warm, there's no surprise why Tenerife remains a firm favourite with British holidaymakers for both summer and winter getaways. With beaches galore, from golden sands with every amenity in Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos, to the coves filled with black volcanic sand in Playa de la Arena and Puerto de la Cruz, it's no wonder holidays centre around the beach here. But if you dig a little deeper you'll find that there is so much more to discover. At the island's heart you'll find the towering volcano of Mount Teide. Look to the north and discover Tenerife's capital Santa Cruz, sitting in contrast to the holiday hotspots of the island, this dynamic and sophisticated city is buzzing with life and rich in culture.

Our headline picture shows the incredible home of famous Lanzarote artist and architect of this Canarian island, César Manrique. He made his home out of the bubbles in volcanic rock and it is a major attraction on Lanzarote. Pictured above is Tenerife's sunny coastline, boasting a variety of beaches and vibrant towns such as the island's capital, Santa Cruz.

Club Casablanca (1668) is affiliated to RCI's Exchange Holiday programme and benefits from many on-site facilities, such as the first bowling green on the island, a swimming pool, a bar with poolside café. The resort is situated on a rolling hill in the fashionable La Paz district of Puerto de la Cruz on the northwest coast of Tenerife, and is just a pleasant walk or short drive from the upmarket shopping avenues and seafront restaurants serving quality traditional Spanish cuisine.

There really is something for everyone in this holiday capital of the world. If it's a thrill-a-minute family holiday you're after, Orlando should be at the top of your list, being home to the world's greatest theme parks. This is just one reason to visit the Sunshine State. If you're a nature lover, explore the sub-tropical waterways of the Everglades National Park, and if shopping is your hunting ground you won't be disappointed. Whether it's a pair of Mickey Mouse ears or that designer handbag at a fraction of the price, shops are aplenty. If soaking up the sun is more your style, then visit the pristine shores of Palm Beach or strut your stuff on the miles and miles of Miami's white sand. A holiday in Florida is whatever you want it to be, and we're sure that however you chose to holiday, you'll be returning again.

The Everglades National Park is an area of extraordinary and exotic beauty, being a totally contrasting experience from the fabulous theme parks and beaches which abound in this destination.

Despite the many nearby activities at Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort (2121), guests should find time to relax and unwind at the resort's outdoor swimming pool, poolside bar, whirlpool hot tub, and sun deck. Many choose pampering sessions at the day spa.

Warm, welcoming and exuding traditional charm there are many good reasons why picture-perfect Portugal remains a firm favourite, embracing beach goers, culture lovers and sports enthusiasts alike. With a coastline as expansive as Portugal's, there is no shortage of beaches for you to check out on your travels. If you're more of an explorer, walks across the golden clifftops and boat trips to secluded caves with magnificent rock formations are a must. Look beyond the shores of Portugal and you'll uncover fascinating histories and vibrant cultures. Portugal's distinctive food and wine captures the charisma and traditional soul of the country. To top it off, it has a pleasant year-round climate, so your invite to holiday in Portugal will always be open.

A boat trip through the Benagil Caves is an absolute must. Many local tour companies on the Algarve offer trips out to the caves and the boats' pilots are very experienced, steering you skilfully into and through these iconic rock formations. The colours and scale of the caves as you float in and out of them is a spectacle that will stay with you long after your return home.

Club Albufeira Resort Algarve (2414) is surrounded by beautiful almond and olive trees. Located less than a mile from Fisherman's Beach and close to the centre of Albufeira, the resort's setting is perfect for everything you'd want on holiday. On resort, guests can swim in one of four swimming pools, each with a separate children's pool, or relax in either of the club's Jacuzzis. Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria is as welcoming as it is wonderfully varied. Whether you're looking for a family holiday, romantic break or a group getaway, Gran Canaria's warm year-round climate makes it a popular choice among Brits, having developed holiday resorts in the south, and the bustling, modern capital of Las Palmas in the north. The island may be modest in size but boasts an impressive list of things to do whilst visiting, well that's if you can pull yourself away from the stunning beaches. From the luscious flowers, plants and waterfalls of its botanical gardens, to impressive landmarks, including museums and cathedrals in the picturesque old quarter of the capital, it won't fail to impress. There is plenty to keep you entertained when the sun sets too. Enjoy the evenings in style, from upscale cuisine delights by the ocean to vibrant bars and clubs.

Gran Canaria, like its island sisters, may be small in size, but it packs a lot in when it comes to places to see and things to do. The botanical gardens are a refreshing retreat, complete with waterfalls, from the heat of the beach and the buzz of the towns.

Holiday Club Puerto Calma (2805) is an excellent choice for a family holiday, with its many activities and stunning views of the beautiful harbour of Puerto Rico. The resort complex sits opposite the beach and marina of Puerto Rico, with views over the port and gardens. Guests can reach the beach via a pleasant short walk past the marina.

The seafront is as enticing by night as by day, with many restaurants and bars. Gran Canaria has something for all kinds of holidaymakers, from romantic couples to family groups, everyone will return home knowing they've had a really good holiday.

Madeira is often referred to as the 'Pearl of the Atlantic', and there's no doubt why. With its striking natural beauty, Madeira boasts an exotic paradise of floral finery and luscious forests, a colourful spectacle that needs to be seen to be believed. This small island is one of Europe's leading spa destinations too. Whether it's all the walking and hiking that leaves you in need of a follow-up massage, or you simply want to unwind on holiday, a spa treatment here is a must. With its sub-tropical climate, Madeira is a place you can enjoy and explore at any time of the year. If you decide to holiday here, we're sure you'll be truly charmed.

Located in an historic country estate built in the last century, the Pestana Palms (2829) has an onsite swimming pool, games room, diving club and school (Tubarão Madeira), health club, as well as many other facilities. Guests can use the resort's private access to the beach and landscaped tropical gardens.

With sandy beaches, volcanic landscapes and quirky architecture, Lanzarote is one of the Canary Islands' biggest hitters. Local artist and sculptor César Manrique's work has enhanced the island's natural beauty, with his sculptures and architecture waiting to be discovered across the island. Make Timanfaya National Park your first port of call. The moon-like landscape here is made up of around 100 volcanic craters known as the Fire Mountains - pour water into one of the boreholes and it's vapourised in seconds. On the east coast, Jameos del Agua and the Madeira Botanical Garden offer more examples of Manrique's fascinating use of the island's natural resources. Jameos del Agua hosts concerts in an auditorium cut into the volcanic lava. For the beach lovers, they can enjoy the 30 kilometres of sand that melts into the ultra-calm sea.

The moon-like landscape of Lanzarote's Timanfaya National Park is truly out of this world and quite unique among holiday destination attractions.

Club Las Calas (1448) is conveniently located near the heart of the popular tourist destination of Puerto del Carmen on the island of Lanzarote.
